Our Admissions Process

If you believe that The Yellow House School could be the ideal educational setting for your child, we invite you to review our admission arrangements outlined below. Should you feel that our school aligns with your child’s needs, we encourage you to reach out to your Local Authority to initiate a referral to our school.  All of our pupils have an EHCP and must be referred through the Local Authority. We look forward to the opportunity to support your child’s educational journey!

Assessment Places at The Yellow House School

Before any pupil is taken onto our roll , we offer a 6 week assessment place with us.  During this time, we build pupil's times up with our offer and  investigate the suitability of the pupil with our provision. We also contact home to ask about what impact the assessment journey  is having at home before and after sessions.  The investigation into the suitability of our provision  is done through the use of baseline assessments for academic levels, taster lessons across our curriculum and therapeutic support in group and individual settings.   At the end of the 6 week assessment period, the decision to enrol the pupil is made alongside the parents, local authority and, most importantly, the pupil. We know that placements will only work if we are all in partnership.

Prior to being offered an assessment place, we will come out to a home visit and then invite the pupil and family in to see our school sites so that we are all agreed in our partnership that The Yellow House School is the best educational provision for that individual pupil and their family.
